I recently had the GT-B wagon re-tuned by Matt for a Phat GT dump pipe.
Apart from the tune, HKS panel filter and DW65c, and zorst, the Lib is stock.
In passing, Matt mentioned it was possible to mod STi/WRX widebody sedan quad mufflers and mid to fit Libs.
Deeper note and slightly better flow to be expected.

I bought a set for $200 and had them modded to fit for $150 at my local exhaust shoppe.
The modding is on the pricey side as tips need extending, flanges need rotating and the hangers need to be relocated.
I'm very happy with the look, and I'll revisit the exhaust shop to see if they can tweak the tips a little for perfect alignment.



The sound is very quiet at idle, boomy at around 1200-1500 rpm (EDIT fixed ) and then has a great raspy sound up the revs...
Off throttle, the popping and coughing is way more noticeable or louder than the stock GT-B muffs.




I recently added an AVO 3" mid to the equation which for me is a perfect combo with the stock muffs - sounds quiet and feels very torquey.



Just this morning I refitted the STi sedan "Mystery Muffs" to the AVO mid, it's still quiet at idle and somewhat louder everywhere else.
The Lib feels a little less torquey with that combo...
I'm wondering if is that something that the ECU will adjust to, or if revising the tune will help with that?

The mufflers the car should have come with. Tips look tits! $350 is tight!

I reckon the mystery muffs are winning: if I can make a jig to bring the welding price down/accuracy up.
Now I have both stock and modded muffs that is a possiblity.
The best viability would be for the total cost to be well below $300.
If you can weld, or are on good terms with a welder/exhaust shop then I'd consider it.

Anyone with more commonsense would opt for a Brainy style/Hallam Performance Exhausts catback - custom center w/glasspack muffs.

We tried them on a stock H6 sedan - there was only a very, very slight increase in volume/rasp.
On the wag there's nice tuck, but at this length, the sedan version would require way more staggering of the tips...

Furthermore, for members with stock catback zorsts, there is a possibility that the STi/WRX widebody sedan stock center pipe could be adapted for this mod.
It's around 2.5" diameter with a hotdog style resonator where the big box is on the Lib. The inlet might have to be adapted as might the outlet to outlet distance if different from the Lib.
The main benefit (apart from the hotdog) would be that the muffler tips wouldn't require modding.

Gotta say those tips do look the dukz gutz on the wagon Benny. That's 4 x 3 inch tips y'all!

JD: Nikkor 70-200 2.8 AFS VR mk1 (probably on f4 to knock out the BG a little).
I forgot to compensate exposure for the black duco (total n00b mistake: too busy playing with the polarizer) thus a little overcooked.

Nice work on the mufflers Benny, she seems to be coming along great have you gotten an updated power figure yet?

Waiting on the next dyno day to see what gains, getting to grips with logging via Tactrix in the meantime.
The Lib is a pleasure to drive with the zorst mods: even "i" mode on WG pressure is great for regular use.
The muffs have a gargly raspy buzz on the 3" mid, will get a valued opinion from Bruce soon, hopefully.

I have a second set of these muffs - unmodded and soon to be in the FS section...

Needs more roof rack... Man, as soon as I lose my 2.5i training wheels I'm doing this to my next big boy Lib. If my eyes could taste... i bet these muffs would taste awesome. nice work!

Points: driving "on" the speedo below 100 and plus 8% above for safety, when in doubt - do 40

Roof racks: these manage to hold the extension ladder required for timelapse camera access, but any more toys and I'll be another "selling to buy a ute" guy (heaven forbid!)

Any welders out there can help me bring the costs down? Willing to learn and have access to arc and oxy on the in-laws farm.

Got 2 sets from MSR and another lined up elsewhere.
Anyone with an 08+ STi sedan or widebody WRX sedan thats upgraded to aftermarket muffs!
1 set ready to be modded, pickup in Collingwood for what I paid.
If local you can borrow these if you have time & materials to do a jig.
Currently the car runs better on the stockers pending tune revision.

Also these are just absolutely hacked together, luckily the evidence is hard to spot from normal angles.
Despite the big tip covers, I am indeed getting a tiny bit of bumper burn so better alignment is imminent.

Racks are Rhino, came with the car, absolutely indispensable, removed when not.

The tint is darkest legal by Rob Tait, remember the polarizer on the lens is completely cutting through the glare.
So it's maybe just a shade lighter than the rear glass depending on the way the light is hitting the car.
Nice and cool inside, especially with the sunroof tint!

We were really surprised by how the sound difference was so profound on the EJ25T with and without the mid, yet barely noticeable on the H6... Conclusion, these muffs definitely flow better than the stockers, despite the same inlet size.
